Steam train and narrow-gauge railway

The Taurachbahn and Murtalbahn narrow-gauge railways provide steam-train rides through the Lungau region.

All guests of the Samerhof in the Lungau region love taking a ride on the steaming narrow-gauge trains. The Taurachbahn is also a narrow gauge railway, which is run by Club 760. The narrow-gauge railway between Mauterndorf-Mariapfarr-Tamsweg is maintained, renovated, and looked after with loving care. The ride on the steam train through the Lungau region is an especially beautiful and comfortable experience. Guests of the Samerhof can get on and off at the train station in Mariapfarr. The Taurachbahn of Club 760 also carries baby strollers and bicycles for free, and therefore makes for many a splendid hike or bicycle tour through the Lungau region around the Samerhof.

With the Murtalbahn, you chug along accompanied by befitting music through Murtal valley from Tamsweg via Ramingstein to Murau and back. One possible variant for cyclists: Pedal along the Mur Bike Path to Murau, then steam on the Murtalbahn narrow-gauge railway back through the Lungau region. This is a very popular option for family vacationers.
